Let's talk about what you're reading!

We love books and think there's nothing more exciting than discovering the next best read!  Our selection is influenced by conversations with customers, questions about the natural world and local history, and those special books that will always be on the "all time favorite" lists.

Grandpa's Barn Backstory

Grandpa's Barn quite literally was Grandpa's barn.  Originally built between 1860-1870, it was the Kingston hay barn in Central, MI.  In the early 1940s, it was rebuilt on the current spot by C. H. Wescoat who intended to use it as a working barn.  A fire destroyed about half of the structure in 1946 and the current barn has been modified over the years by Wescoat's son and grandson.  The bookstore's ambiance is created by artifacts from different periods of Copper Country history.

We've sold books for years - first at the top of Brockway Mountain Drive in the Skytop Inn, then from 1985-2000 at the Brockway Inn.  Grandpa's Barn was opened in 2002 and has been going strong ever since, serving generations of readers who visit Copper Harbor each year.
